VegSafe is a product of Out West AI Pty Ltd, ACN 695 421 615.

1. What VegSafe is

VegSafe helps you complete and keep your own self-assessment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth), and holds that record for the retention period.

2. What VegSafe is not

This is the part that matters most, and it is not fine print.

VegSafe does not:

• provide legal advice;
• provide ecological advice;
• determine whether an action is exempt, or whether it requires referral;
• constitute a decision, view or approval by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, or by any other regulator.

Any determination the product shows you is a restatement of your own answers against published guidance. It is not a finding. The decision to proceed with an activity, or to refer it, is yours, and the Act places it with you.

3. No connection to the regulator

VegSafe holds no connection to the Department and reports nothing to it. Nothing you record here is sent to any regulator. If the Department asks to see your self-assessment, you produce it yourself — the product exists to make that possible, not to do it for you.

4. Your obligations remain yours

Your obligations under the EPBC Act, including the obligation to keep records, are yours and are not affected by using VegSafe, by your subscription ending, or by deleting a record.

5. Accuracy of what you record

VegSafe records what you tell it. The value of the record depends on the accuracy and completeness of your answers, the evidence you attach, and the reasoning you write. We do not verify any of it.

6. Rule set versions

The questions VegSafe asks reflect the law and guidance as we understand it at the time. Each record stores the version of the question set it was made under, and is shown as it was assessed rather than as the rules stand today.

We maintain that question set as the law changes. We do not warrant that it is complete or current at any given moment.

7. Your data

Your records are yours. You can export everything at any time, in an open format, without asking us. See the privacy policy for what we hold and where.

8. Availability

We do not warrant uninterrupted availability.

9. Liability

10. Changes to these terms

These terms are versioned and dated. We record which version you accepted and when. A new version does not change what you agreed to previously.
